Retriever Rescue of Colorado
RROC ADOPTION PROCESS ~ PLEASE READ
We DO NOT discuss individual dogs with applicants until the adoption process has been completed because there is often more than one applicant interested in a particular dog, and we do not want to promise the same dog to more than one applicant.
We DO NOT have a physical location, as all of our dogs are fostered in individual homes. Please stop by our meet and greet events if you would like to visit with us.
Our adoption fees are: $195 for dogs ages 9 months and older, and $250 for puppies 8 months and younger. Fees include spay or neuter, microchipping, all age-appropriate vaccinations and 30 days of free Sheltercare Insurance.
For questions on home requirements, RROC's fence policy and our "Puppy Rule" adoption policy, please click here.
We have a 3 step adoption process which must be completed before we place any of our dogs.
We require :
1) A completed application. (While we encourage you to let us know on your application if one of our dogs has captured your interest, we use this simply as a guide for matching and your listing of specific dog in no way implies claim to this particular dog)
2) A phone interview
3) A home visit. (We require that our applicants must have a physical fence (no electronic or invisible fencing), unless applicants are interested in adding an especially calm senior or special needs dog to their household.)
We have found that puppies from the same litter tend to bond to one another, to their detriment, when adopted together. Therefore, we do not adopt out two puppies from the same litter to the same adopter.
** The general guideline is that puppies may be left alone, for no longer in hours than the number of months of their ages. Please do not apply for a young puppy if you intend to be gone all day.
+++To adopt or foster for RROC, all dogs and cats in the home must be spayed or neutered. Some minor exceptions do apply but RROC is a very strong advocate of spaying and neutering and rarely places one of our dogs into any home with intact animals. Please support our goal of reducing the number of homeless dogs and cats by spaying and neutering all of yours.
